Lack of Patient Communication Systems
Toggle
Hospitals in India lack the BASIC communication systems that should be mandatory to run a hospital. The hospital administration jeapordizes patient safety and cut corners to make more money.
A few issues from personal experience:
No Medicine Allergy Alert system in Pharmacy: In most developed countries (US, UK, Canda, European countries etc..), we take for granted that IF a doctor makes a mistake of prescribing a medicine that a patient in allergic to, the computer IT system would catch the conflict and alert the pharmacy before they dispense the medicine that a patient is allergic to.
No Whiteboards in Hospital Rooms: MOST Hospital rooms in India lack whiteboards that are widely used in US and elsewhere. Whiteboards are used as a communication tool for Doctors, Nurses and patients. Patient specific information like diet restrictions are listed on there. Why are whiteboards important? Read more here.
Read below all the articles we have gathered from News and personal experiences. These will demonstrate the need to understand why this is a HUGE issue at Hospitals in India.
